About Us

BPI LSB (formerly Legazpi Savings Bank) is a thrift bank dedicated to providing accessible and meaningful financial solutions, with a core focus on serving teachers and non-teaching personnel. Through tailored offerings such as the Automatic Payroll Deduction System (APDS), BPI LSB plays a vital role in supporting educators across the country.

Founded in 1976 in Legazpi City as Legazpi Savings and Loan Association, Inc., the bank began with a clear purpose: to offer dependable deposit and loan services to its community. Backed by the pioneering efforts of the Bichara, Los Baños, Sabido, and Giongco families, the institution grew steadily, expanding across the Bicol Region and eventually establishing a presence throughout the Philippines.

In 2012, the bank marked a new chapter when it became part of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. through its acquisition by Robinsons Bank. This partnership enabled further growth and operational strengthening, helping the bank extend its reach and impact.

A major milestone occurred on January 1, 2024, when Robinsons Bank merged with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)—the country’s oldest bank and a pillar of financial excellence for over 150 years. With this integration, BPI LSB became a wholly owned subsidiary of BPI, embracing a new identity while building on a strong legacy.

As of 2024, BPI LSB operates 27 branches and branch-lite units (BLUs), 13 of which are located in the Bicol Region. The bank continues to post strong performance, driven by expanded distribution channels, digital enhancements, and simplified onboarding processes for clients. To date, BPI LSB has provided financial assistance to 49,874 teachers nationwide, reflecting its commitment to serving the education sector with accessible and meaningful banking solutions.  Now proudly aligned with BPI’s values, BPI LSB is better positioned to deliver:
