FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1. What actions do I need to take regarding my checking account?

To ensure smooth transactions and avoid any inconvenience, please ensure that you:

1. Visit your LSB Branch of Account at your earliest convenience.

At your option, our branch team will assist you in closing your Checking Account or converting it to a regular savings account.

If you choose to close or convert your Checking Account, you must:

  • Retrieve all your issued checks, including post-dated checks (PDCs), from your payees;
  • Make alternative payment arrangements with your payees (e.g., checks from another bank, fund transfers, or other payment methods); and
  • Confirm that all outstanding obligations linked to your Checking Account have been fully settled.

Once your Checking Account is closed or converted, all check-related transactions will automatically cease, and all your issued checks will no longer be honored, regardless of the date indicated on the check.

2. Review and Manage Check Issuance

You must ensure to make timely and necessary arrangements with your payees regarding:

  • Checks issued that are within their six-month validity period must be presented for clearing on the last banking day of December 2026, as they will no longer be honored beyond this date.
  • Post-Dated Checks (PDCs) dated beyond the last banking day of December 2026 will no longer be honored, processed, or accepted for payment. Please retrieve all your issued PDCs from your payees and make alternative payment arrangements with your payees (e.g., checks from another bank, fund transfers, or other payment methods).

Q2. What will happen to my checking account if I don't act on this?

If you have not taken any action by the last banking day of December 2026, your Checking Account will be automatically converted to a regular savings account. All your issued checks will no longer be honored, processed, or accepted for payment.

Q3. I am running low on my LSB checks. Can I still order new LSB checks?

Yes. You may still order new LSB checks while your Checking Account remains active.

  • However, your Checking Account, including check deposit and all check-related services, will remain available until the last banking day of December 2026 only. Any unused checks ordered may therefore no longer be usable once checking services are discontinued.
  • LSB will discontinue its Checking Account product, check deposit to all LSB accounts, and all check-related services effective January 4, 2027.

To avoid inconvenience and unnecessary expense, clients are advised to make alternative arrangements for their payment and checking needs as early as possible, such as using checks from another bank or other available payment methods.
